Measuring Progress

Is your company following, or perhaps contributing toward the lofty objectives of the UN Sustainable Development Goals? 2030 may seem a long way off, whether initiatives are on track, or less so if they’re not. But what is on track? It all depends on well-defined targets and how they’re measured.
In a recent article, The Economist asks fundamentally whether it is feasible to measure the SDGs, whose targets “build on the eight Millennium Development Goals set in 2000” since the MDGs demonstrated a difference between measurement in theory and in practice.
Certainly, strategic conversations informed goal setting and definition of measurement targets. One lesson from the MDGs is to keep the conversations going, to ensure necessary ongoing adjustments to accomplish goals and measure performance outcomes.
One such conversation takes place February 11-13 in Delhi. There the Energy and Resources Institute, energy, environment, and sustainable development research group, has engaged what they’ve described as “…deliberations on #cleanoceans, #climatefinance, #sustainableagriculture, #energytransitions & #transportandmobility.”
Is now a chance for meaningful deliberations about your goals? At this point, with 4th quarter close behind them, many companies have turned to pull in data to track progress against sustainability goals. Precise Write can assist with a fresh look and instigate strategic conversations to help spur performance.
